THE WHITELANDS PROJECT

Whitelands Experience

Volunteering to help build a large timber play structure located in the Whitelands woodland in Hampshire, this 3-day exercise was a great way to work with other University students of various years and create lasting connections.

The Frame

Using a large 3-meter tall frame in the form of an upside down V, this was used to create a double-storey structure that was positioned on a slope, creating a challenge for us DIY-ing.

On the upper slope, the frame needed to be dug further into the ground to ensure that the top was level.

An end to a Journey

As the end of the 3-day project comes to a close, I believe that this experience has been a great way to bond with other students and create long-lasting memories of this volunteering exercise.

The structure is intended for children to use whilst visiting the Whiteland woods so this meant that we needed to ensure the safety of the structure was brought to a high standard.
